2017 REGION I CHAMPIONS!
The Phoenix College baseball program has a storied history. The Bears have won numerous ACCAC and Region titles. Under NJCAA Hall of Fame coach Martin “Pug” Marich, the Bears were crowned national champions in 1962 and 1965. The Bears also won a national championship in 1960. And they renewed some of that great history by coming within one game of heading to nationals to going to the deciding game in the 2015 Region I Division II Finals.
Now Bears' Head Baseball Coach Kevin Kimball and his staff have the 2017 team poised to go at least one step further this year. Kimball heads into his 6th season with a very deep and talented squad. The baseball team is also excelling in the classroom as evidenced by the fact the team was named to the NJCAA Academic All-American List for the 5th time in the last six years in the summer of 2016.
Bears baseball will continue to thrive both on and off the field by:
- Dedication in the classroom.
- Outworking our opponents on the baseball diamond and in the weight room.
- Getting our student-athletes moved on to the next level.
Congratulations to all of our 2016-17 student-athletes who are off to four-year college institutions to continue their academic and athletic careers! Check out the list below from Bears' Baseball:
